Като цяло изпращаме една много добра година за българския туризъм. Секторът доказа, че има потенциал да подпомага местните икономики, създавайки работни места дори в тежки времена.
Отчита се добър летен сезон въпреки терористичния акт в разгара на лятото на летището в Бургас. Този безпрецедентен случай доказва стабилността на бранша, защото туризмът не претърпя значителни щети, а и имиджът на страната ни като цяло остана ненакърнен. Добър знак е, че този насилствен акт не беше припознат като нещо обичайно, а беше разбран като инцидент, който не спря нито израелските, нито другите чужди туристи да посещават страната ни.
2012 година беше и по-спокойна в сравнение с предходната заради по-малкото оплаквания за употреба на храни с изтекъл срок на годност. Очевидно системата за контрол по безопасност на храните отбелязва подобрение по отношение на качеството на храните, предлагани в хотели и заведения за хранене.
Годината беше по-добра и по отношение на намалелия брой изоставени туристи – както български зад граница, така и чужди у нас. Въпреки добрия резултат обаче този проблем остава основната драма на българския туризъм, заради липсата на работещо законодателство, което да възмездява ощетените веднага. А въпросът с фалитите на туроператори винаги ще стои на дневен ред, което не трябва да ни плаши.
Забраната за пушене на закрити обществени места, противно на очакванията, не оказа негативно влияние на сектора. Тъкмо напротив – ресторантите бяха пълни не само през летните месеци, но и през Коледните празници. През 2012 година имахме първата Коледа без цигарен дим, което беше оценено като положително и от самия бранш, който по никакъв начин не усети спад.
