Трудна, тежка и въпреки това успешна година изпраща туристическият бранш. Като че ли най-тежкият удар дойде от терористичния атентат през лятото, но последиците не бяха фатални, спадът бързо бе овладян и не беше повече от 2% като отлив на туристи.
Основен проблем, който спъна растежа на туризма, е този с визите за граждани на Русия, Украйна и Турция. Ако България успее да извоюва възможност за многократни визи за тези туристи, можем да очакваме още по-добри резултати.
Милиарди лева се губят от сегашната нормативна база в закона за горите. При условие, че през следващата година законът бъде преразгледан, има шанс десетки малки курорти да развият потенциала си и да станата реална конкуренция на трите ни големи зимни курорта.
Към момента зимните ни курорти са пълни и очакванията са финансовите отчети да покажат положителни резултати.

Годината беше трудна, но добра за туризма ни. Въпреки все още нерешеното законодателство, което създава проблеми от различен характер, като цяло 2012-а ще приключи с положителен приход и от летен, и от зимен туризъм.
Пречка пред туроператорския бизнес са заложените тежки административни наказания, които не решават проблема с туроператорите фантоми, а оттук и проблема с фалитите в бранша, които са последица от недобре действащия пазар.
Въпреки трудните години туризмът е печеливш отрасъл, който осигурява прираст на икономиката и няма основания за песимизъм и догодина.
Страната ни има какво да даде от гледна точка на разнообразието на туристическия продукт. Следва политиката да бъде ориентирана към към по-печеливши сфери като развитието на културния туризъм и превръщането на историческото наследство в печеливш туристически продукт. Необходима е обаче последователна държавна политика в стратегически план, която да подпомогне развитието на алтернативните форми на туризъм, а оттук и високата добавена стойност на продукта ни.
